Tyagaraja Aradhana at Paris

Conservatoire Carnatique de Paris (Carnatic Conservatory of Paris, CCParis) celebrated its 6th edition of Paris Tyagaraja Aradhana (PTA) on 21 May 2023, Sunday at the Mairie de XVIemearrondissment (Townhall of the 16th district) in Paris. The event was conducted under the high patronage of Embassy of India in France and ably supported by the Mayor Francis Szpiner.
Samia Badat Karam, elected member of the Mairie (Town), Pujya Priyadarshini, Second Secretary (PIC) – Embassy of India in France, Arthur Thomassin, Director of Jean Weiner Conservatory, Bobigny and Sowmyalakshmi Rasika, Directrice of Maison de l'Inde inaugurated the function with the lighting of the lamp.
The festival commenced with the the traditional Pillari Geetegalu followed by Tyagaraja pancharatna kritis. Violonists, veena players, and percussionists ably supported the vocal renditions.
The afternoon session, saw performances from a diverse age group and showcased several artists who performed vocal, instrumental (veena, violin, flute, mridangam and konnakkol) and Bharatanatyam .
The festival was attended by more than 80 artists and close to 400 people, making it clearly one of the biggest gathering of Carnatic musicians and dancers in whole of Europe.
