Sujata Mohapatra is the disciple and daughter-in-law of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and was trained by him for eighteen years in Odissi. She has also undergone training at the Odissi Research Centre at Bhubaneshwar. Presently she is guided by her husband Ratikant Mohapatra. She has travelled widely as a leading member of the Srjan Dance Troupe of her Guru. At present she is the Principal of the Institute Srjan started by her Guru for training in Odissi. She has also established the Guru Keerti Srjan, Balasore, Orissa and is the Artistic Director of Guru Shradha Institute of Odissi Dance, San Francisco.Sujata holds a Master’s degree in Oriya literature from Utkal University and has done extensive research in temple architecture relating to the dance form. She has had concert tours and held workshops in several cities in India, USA, Canada France, UK, Singapore, Japan, Germany, Italy, Russia, Malasia, Amsterdam and Moscow. She performed at the India Festival in Amsterdam. She is the recipient of several awards, some of which are the Aditya Birla Kalakiran Award, the Raza Award, Pandit Jasraj Award, and the Sanjukta Panigrahi Award.
