International World Dance Day was celebrated at Kalamandalam (Kolkata) on Sunday evening at the Guru Govindan Kutty Auditorium. The event featured performances by 13 dance groups from Kolkata, showcasing Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohini Attam, and Kathak.

One of the highlights of the evening was a Mohini Attam performance by Kalamandalam Swarnadeepa, who beautifully presented Krishna nee begane. South Kolkata Nrityangan staged a Bharatanatyam presentation titled Trahi, while Pushpak Dance Academy presented a Kathak piece addressing the atrocities faced by women in contemporary society. Kalamandalam also presented Alarippu, Natarajanjali, and Natanamadinar.

Other participating groups included Sur Lahari Nrittayan, Chandrakala Nritayalaya, Nrityargha, Kuchipudi Nritya Sadhana, Alimpan, Nrittyangi Dance Academy, Nipun Nrityalaya, Mukul Chhanda Dance Group, and Niharika Centre for Performing Arts.
