Composers of Indian music - Annamacharya

Amma's piercing shout stopped Sargam in her tracks.

"Remove your slippers! These are holy hills. You should not step on them with your footwear."

"Calm down, Amma, calm down," Sargam responded. "I shall remove them. Gosh, why did you have to shout so loudly!"

Amma gave her a grim look yet. Amma and Appa had vowed to climb the Tirupati hills and Sargam had volunteered to join them. After all, she did not want to miss out on the fun of participating in a 'trek'!

"Annamacharya was born in the year 1408 in Tallapakkam, a village near Tirupati. But some say that he was born in 1424. His parents' name s were Narayana Suri and Lakkamamba. The couple wanted a male child and one day decided to pray for one at the shrine of Lord Venkateswara on top of the hill. The story goes that in the shrine they had a vision of the Nandaka sword of  Lord Vishnu."

In course of time a son was born to them. They named him Annamayya. His birth star or asterism was Visakha.
