World dance day at Bhavan (London)

The Bhavan, London celebrated the International World Dance Day on 27 and 28 April 2024, curated by Parvati Nair and Anvi Prabhu with the support of Bhavan staff. The Mayor of Hammersmith and Fulham, Councillor Patricia Quigley graced the occasion on the first day. The line-up included thought-provoking pieces social issues such as, women empowerment, abortion, and awareness of differently-abled people; as well as foot-tapping numbers of Bhangra, folk forms of South and Eastern India, and choreographies in Kathak, Odissi and Bharatanatyam presented by various dancers and dance schools across England.


                                    

Schools that participated were Natyakshetra School, Vidya Shyam Vetrivel and Team, Arthi’s Kalalayam, Bhadram School of Dance, Samarpana Classical Arts, Dr Priyanka Balachandar and Team, Edgware Dance Group over 50's, Ahana Ghosh Sikka Dance Team, Natyasri Dance company, Ponsita School of Dance, Nikkan Dance Academy, Edinburgh, and Urja performance Team on the first day.

The second day comprised Team Annam, Sarjan Nartan Academy, Team Anubhava, Noopur Dutta and Team, Nital Dance, Satyam School of Dance and Music, Kathak, Odissi and Bharatanatyam Teams from The Bhavan, Asmitha Keer and Team, and Indradhanush Kids Academy.
