DANCE FESTIVAL IN CHANDIGARH TRIBUTE TO DURGA LAL

A national dance festival was held 19-25 March in Chandigarh, under the auspices of the North Zone Cultural Centre, as a tribute to the memory of Pandit Durga Lal. Liker
Durga Lal did during his career,
the festival brought great cheer
to the audience which, 800 to
900 strong, filled the open air
amphitheatre. Indeed, exposed
for the first time to a festival of
this nature, the audience took in
every performance enthusiastically and cheered the dancers
on, in turn, with rapturous
applause. Durga Lal would have
felt pleased by the response, for
himself and for all other
dancers.
